Albom has founded multiple charities, including nine in the Detroit area, such as S.A.Y. Detroit, which provides pathways to success for Detroiters in need through health, housing, and education initiatives; A Time to Help, a volunteer organization; and A Hole in the Roof Foundation, which repairs faith-based homeless shelters. He also operates the Have Faith Haiti Mission in Port-au-Prince, a home and school for impoverished children and orphans that he visits monthly.
