Martha Stewart is an Emmy Award-winning television host, entrepreneur, bestselling author, and America’s most trusted lifestyle expert. As founder of Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia in 1996, she built a media and merchandising empire that reaches approximately 66 million consumers monthly across all platforms, with 8,500 products in thousands of retail locations including The Home Depot, Macy’s, Staples, PetSmart, Michaels, and J.C. Penney. Named one of Forbes’ “100 Greatest Living Business Minds” in 2017, Martha is the definitive source for cooking, entertaining, gardening, home renovating, organizing, crafting, and everyday living.

Raised in Nutley, New Jersey, in a family of six children, Martha developed her passion for cooking and gardening early—her mother taught her the basics of cooking, baking, and sewing, while her father introduced her to gardening at age three. After earning a bachelor’s degree in history and architectural history at Barnard College, she became a stockbroker on Wall Street, gaining crucial business training. In 1972, she moved to Westport, Connecticut, and launched a catering business that showcased her remarkable talent and originality.

Martha’s elegant visual presentation and recipes from her catered events became the basis for her first book, Entertaining (1982). She has since published more than 75 bestselling books, including Martha Stewart’s Baking Handbook, Martha Stewart’s Homekeeping Handbook, and Martha Stewart’s Cooking School, which inspired the PBS television series of the same name. Her expansive television portfolio—including “Martha,” “The Martha Stewart Show,” and “Martha Stewart Living”—has earned 18 Emmy Awards. She currently co-hosts VH1’s “Martha & Snoop’s Potluck Dinner Party” with longtime friend Snoop Dogg.
